Motlava. A name that flows with history
The name of the river “Motlava” first appeared in documents from 1280. The river, today called Motława, flows through Gdańsk, which has been a seaport since the Middle Ages. It was a port where not only goods but also cultural habits from all over Europe were exchanged.
Over time, flavours from abroad began to flow into Polish cuisine, arriving in Gdańsk from across the Baltic. Traditions and people travelled through time and space, bringing new culinary ideas, products, spices and delicacies.
Gastronomy has always played a significant role in the history of Gdańsk. Although the city's menu changed over the centuries, every inhabitant liked a well-laid table that showed prosperity and a variety of refined dishes.
In a place where cultural and culinary diversity created a new quality – the true wealth of this region – Motlava Restaurant offers Polish cuisine: flavours that have taken a permanent place at our tables!
